报告简介:Metasurfaces can be used to freely engineer the amplitude, phase, and polarization properties with subwavelength resolution. In this talk, I am going to review the current progress in metasurfaces enabled flat optics components and talk our recent work in ultrathin optical devices with unusual functionalities, including metalenses, image-switchable holograms, vortex beam generation and manipulation, arbitrary polarization manipulation and so on.

报告人简介:Dr Xianzhong Chen leads the Experimental Nanophotonics Group at the Heriot-Watt University (HWU). His research interest includes nanophotonics, metamaterials, metasurfaces, plasmonics, ultrathin nanodevices, and low-cost nanofabrication. He received his MSc (2001) and PhD (2004) from the Institute of Optics & Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Prior to joining HWU, he was a research fellow (2007-2013) at the University of Birmingham. He has published 70 journal papers (Google citations >3800) including 4 in Nature Communications. He was the winner of the Contribution Point Award at HWU in 2016 and 2018. His work on macroscopic invisibility cloaking was selected in "Top 10 Breakthroughs for 2010" by Physics World, and "Top 100 Stories in 2011" by Discover Magazine. He is a reviewer for Royal Academy of Engineering program, EPSRC program and Chang Jiang Scholars program. He also serves as a reviewer for high-profile journals such as Nature Nanotechnology and Nature Communications.
